Where are my glasses? Oh, on my head.
I was sent a groovy La LOOP necklace to try out. I am not saying that I misplace my glasses a lot. OK, I am saying I misplace my glasses a lot! I don't wear contact lenses so I am constantly switching from my prescription sunglasses to my regular eye glasses. The website describes what a
La LOOP is WAY better than I can:
La LOOP are stylish necklaces that function as eye glass holder. Not your grandmother's eyeglass chain, La LOOP is a collection of luxurious necklaces designed to keep eye wear in place while offering an ultra-stylish, chic accessory.
I was send a Sport Loop necklace
It is terribly handy and for me. I am in and out of the car and I don't like wearing either pair of glasses in a head band style because they stretch them out over my big melon and then they fall of my nose.
The Sport Loop is very inexpensive at $20.00, but there are some seriously swanky styles, like this one:
Purple horn acetate, made from Italian acetate and handmade in France. This lovely purple colour has a sterling silver look and clasp. $200.00 This could certainly be worn as a necklace all by itself. I really like this one.
There are a variety of styles and price points for everyone and You don't have to look like your Grandma, unless you are into that sort of thing.
I am giving away (number of, styles?) loops to (? number of people who comment). Tell me when or where was the most inconvenient place your lost a pair of glasses!
Celebs love La LOOP too!
To win a Sport La LOOP, leave a comment. Perhaps amuse us with a how-i-lost-my-glasses story. I will pick a winner when I am back from Vegas! Baby!

This is embarrassing, I've lost my glasses while they were on my eyes. yup. I was studying and wasn't used to wearing them all the time, I guess my vision was tired because I was looking for my glasses, when lo and behold, I was already wearing them. Yeah I rock. Worst part, I was 22!

I'm pretty organized about my glasses but I remember my mom lost hers once when she was fishing. She looked down out of the boat and BLOOP.

Once during a long bike ride I stopped into a fire station to use the bathroom. I slid the arms (arms?) of my sunglasses into the vents of my helmet like I always do. You know where this is going.
Yeah, when I finished my business I turned around to flush, tipped my head slightly down, and watched my sunglasses go splashing into the toilet.
Luckily I rescued them before they got sucked down -- gross, I know, but riding the 40 miles home without sunglasses was not an option! I was very glad that the bathroom was well-stocked with soap and paper towels.
Now I try to remember to tuck the shades into my cycling jersey instead of the helmet. And I hold them when I flush.

I left them on the ferry on the way to work.

I thought I lost my glasses, searched everywhere for them and finally passed a mirror and found them on my head. I was so embarrassed and looked like a freak, running around searching for something that sitting right on top of my head. ;)

Know how ferris wheels are so pretty and sparkly at night?
My glasses flashed the whole way down.
We never found them.

Oooo lovely!
I used to take my glasses off when dancing (I am a flailer) and one night at The Rebar I forgot that my jeans had a hole in the back pocket -where I usually stashed them- and after leaving the dance floor I realized my error, much to my chagrin. (I've been reading the Twilight books pretty much non-stop lately, myself, there is a lot of chagrin in them, no?)
Anyhoo, yeah. I didn't even bother going to look for them. I mean, Rebar in the early 90's was PACKED. There's no way they survived.
It sucked going for a few days without glasses until I could afford to replace them.
:P

I've lost a pair in the ocean, I was tumbled by a wave.
I've lost a pair in a car accident when the airbag went off. Of course I didn't realize this until days later.
My daughter lost my new red ones I had bought just for BlogHer '08 on our way home from San Francisco. She took them to the hotel pool and some teenagers took 'em off the table.
I don't think the La LOOP probably wouldn't have helped much, but they are really cool.

I would probably lose my glasses and La Loop at the same time.
How else does a mom lose her glasses? Well, her kid plays with them and leaves them on the floor and then her sister's beagle eats them.
Is there another way?

....i once lost ONE lens of my prescription sunglasses while swimming......

I'm probably not allowed to play this contest because I don't wear glasses but I wish I did! If I remembered to wear sunglasses I probably wouldn't have such blood shot eyes all the time! Maybe a La Loop would cure me of my glasses aversion! It sure looks cool.

I "lost" my glasses by foretting that I had just used the stove and tossing them on the hot burner. I only noticed they were melted when I put them on the next time and they were all wonky. What a dork!

I have lost more pairs of sunglasses than I care to count, in many bodies of water, the latest in the Caribbean in January. Lake Michigan has claimed the most, though.

Lost 'em waiting in line for the E.T. ride in Orlando. Unfortunately, the only other glasses I had were my sunglasses. Four days (and four nights) in sunglasses.

I remember as a young girl at a Girl Scout Meeting we performed a short play and I was the old lady always looking for her glasses when they were usually on her head. Yes, life imitates art, 30+ years later and I am now that same old lady.

In a fit of motion-induced nausea, I placed my Maui Jims on my head without thinking through what would likely ensue. Thus, while trying to hold it together on a smallish boat in choppy waters, I leaned over the side to try to get some cool air on my face and maybe also prepare for imminent horking. I only realized my mistake when I felt the glasses slip off my head and into the churning water. It distracted me from feeling sick for about 1.6 seconds, and then...the inevitable. Rough day and two lessons learned.

I have never lost my glasses. No funny story here. I am so blind, that I live in fear of losing them, so I am an OCD freak about where they, and my sunglasses, are at all times because I am too poor to buy a second pair. I could totally use the Laloop for my sunglasses.

Toilet, under airplane seats and on my head...multiple times. But the best time I scored a temporary pair of free glasses was when I was in Nordstrom's trying on glasses. I'd pushed my reading glasses and my sunglasses up to their headtopper position and tried on a new pair. Sort of liked them, but then tried on another pair. Liked them more so I bought them. Didn't realize until later that day that the first pair that I'd looked at (and kinda liked) had been pushed up to the top of my head. When I left the store I had three pairs of glasses on my head (two readers and one sun) and one shiny new pair in a bag. And yes, the next day I returned the 'stolen' pair.

At summer camp one year, I forgot to leave my glasses in the changing house, so I carefully set them on the dock. Someone knocked them into the lake. The DEEP END of the lake.
Luckily I was not so blind back then and it was the second-to-last day of camp.
As a runner up, I once took a nap in the car with my glasses in my lap, then forgot about them when we arrived at my cousins' house. My aunt found the crushed remains in the driveway the next day, where my mom's car had backed over them.

Left my glasses in Manchester, England, at my husband's aunt's house. Flew home to California without them. Sob.

I always stick my glasses on my shirt or coat when I go inside. They were accidentally "lost" when they fell in the toilet at Barnes & Noble.
Posted by: erika | April 29, 2009 07:15 AM
Oh, I forgot! I lost a pair of brand-new sunglasses in a river when we went tubing. La Loop probably wouldn't have prevented that, though.

I lost my glasses to the jaws of my boston terrier, Bailey. After spending nearly an hour searching for them, I realized I hadn't seen my dog for at least as long. Turns out she and the glasses were snug in the dog crate and she was eating them! Here's the end result: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sunshinedays/58765518/

I was visiting my parents during the summer. I ran inside to use the bathroom, and placed my prescription sunglasses in the neckline of my shirt and did my business. When I was finished, I flushed the toilet. As the water was going down, my glasses fell and were sucked down the toilet. To make a long story short - my dad had to go into the basement and search in the pipes for them (where he found them!) They were returned to me later that evening after we ran them through the dishwasher. I now wear contacts most days.

I've lost my sunglasses by leaving them on the side of my fast food try while I ate and then dumping the whole tray in the trash. Hmmm...maybe that's the universe's way of saying I shouldn't eat fast food?

I saw your meme Schmutzie and I will DO IT! Despite being a lazy meme doer. But it will have to wait for the weekend when Vegas has worn off. :-)

i should make up a story.
my, um, glasses are mainly lost because my son throws them out.
Whoops, that's the truth.

I am constantly losing sunglasses because I don't really have a specific place to keep them. The ones I wear every day are either in the car or on my fireplace mantel ... but I have alternate pairs that I can never find.
Recently, I came across a sparkly pair that I hadn't seen in years. They were in a glasses case under the bathroom vanity. I thought it was just an empty case!

I threw my glasses away a few weeks ago. They fell off the dresser in my bedroom into the trash can. Funny thing is, is that I heard them fall off the dresser right after I put them there and just thought "oh, well I will get them in the morning off the floor" Turns out it was trash day and our trash pick up is at the crack of dawn. My dutiful husband gathered and got that trash out first thing in the morning. After my shower I realized what had happened, but the trash pick up had already happened. The only thing I had were some perscription sunglasses to get through the day. Of course, I was out of contacts and my perscription had expired. I did manage to get an exam and some new contacts by mid-day. I loved those glasses...they were purple. I got new purple ones, but they aren't as nice as the ones I had before.

Mmm. A great looking gadget for sure. I'm a sucka for gadgets and also for forgetting that my sunglasses are on my FACE. Ridiculous.
Posted by: Liesel | May 2, 2009 12:31 PM
I, too, have to switch back and forth since I can not tolerate contacts or the care they require. I would often tuck the pair that I was not wearing in the little door-handle-reservoir in my truck. More often than not, I would forget them there. One morning, I could not find them in the house and they were not in the customary spot in the truck. I didn't have time to look thoroughly, so I took off without them. When I arrived home, I discovered them squooshed in the driveway. They had fallen out of the door handle onto the driveway and I ran them right over.

I am the queen of the lost-on-top-of -the-head. My latest glasses have the clip n sunglasses, because I thought that would be easier. Turns out there is no part of my life compatible with a)remove sunglasses; b) find glasses case in purse; c)slide sunglass clip in cute little pocket thingie inside the case; d) replace glass case in purse; e)carry on.
Oh well.

Right now I'm in the inbetween world of wearing reading glasses and glasses for distance but I am reluctant to do the bifocals just yet. I often find myself with two pairs of glasses perched on my head. Or worse, no glasses to be found anywhere.
